ABOUT

In November 1948, Scott McDaniel and his wife Maxine loaded up their tiny car and headed north from California. Their goal: to spend one year for Scott to see and try to capture through his art, the majestic beauty of Alaska; to experience the country he had fought and nearly died for during World  War II.
The great north captured his heart and that year turned into 64. During that time he and his beloved wife raised five children while he honed his talent ultimately creating hundreds of paintings that earned him dozens of awards, accolades and lucrative contracts. He died in Anchorage on December 17, 2012. He was 86.
In 2024 Scott’s middle daughter Debra, son Timothy, along with Scott’s grandchildren, Jeffrey McDaniel and Michelle Winsor, launched the O. Scott McDaniel Art non-profit 501(c)3 in order to raise funds required to create a National Quality museum exhibit for the Anchorage Museum and a traveling exhibition counter part.
All funds raised will go toward building a lasting legacy of Scott McDaniel art to preserve, protect, share with the public, and inspire future generations of art lovers.
